Moseley, Michael E. The Incas and their Ancestors, Thames & Hudson 1992. A readable account and a comprehensive survey of pre-Columbian Peru by someone who has done fieldwork in Peru.

Stone-Miller, Rebecca Art of the Andes from Chavin to Inca, Thames & Hudson 1995. Beautifully illustrated book focuses on the art of pre-Columbian Peru.
